I Have Returned
Oh hey, I’m back. For some reason GoDaddy keeps deleting my site and I have to start from scratch. It’s paid every month via autopay so I have no idea why my site sometimes disappears. Regardless, here I am again!
I’ve been traveling a bit, and hope to do more this Autumn. Another trip to Fallingwater, of course, then to Centralia, PA and NYC. I also have to visit WV this year, including the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. Busy, busy, busy.
Zippy is being a dick and constantly needing repairs. One week alone I spent almost $800 on struts and a new flex pipe. My mechanic gives me deals on labor and parts so it isn’t as though he’s charging me ridiculous amounts, plus I can buy parts and he’ll install them for me. The struts alone were over $300 from Summit Racing because I pissed around and didn’t buy the cheaper ones when they were available ($120 for the pair.) Then, a couple weeks later, Zippy started leaking coolant due to a bad turbo coolant line that was another $100 for repair and part. Ugh! Frank, on the other hand, is reliable as ever and has only needed a new oil pan this year.
Someone removed the brace holding my front porch stairs to the porch which caused them to “break” when I was going to my car for work last Wednesday. I called the police and filed a report after the landlord told me it was done intentionally. I checked my security cameras but the night vision isn’t the best and the window was covered in water from days of rain. I ordered better cameras that will arrive today or tomorrow, so there’s that. Then, Friday night, someone moved the gnomes on my front porch; the froggy and sultry gnome switched places. I hope they continue doing this shit after I have better cameras, whomever they may be. I also signed up for a concealed carry class so I’ll have a gun, too. Terrifying thought, I know.
I still love my job no matter how much I bitch sometimes. I’ve been at the same place for almost 3 years and am very fortunate to have the job. I’ve earned my job after spending many years in the trenches of IT help desk hell. Many days Zippy is my office, which is all right with me.
The Shelby is fine, fat (13 pounds) and bad as always.
I joined a CSA farm share thing in June and it’s wonderful. Once a week, typically on Wednesdays, I pick up a delicious bunch of fresh produce. I’ve received a lot of squash lately and realized spaghetti squash is fucking delicious.
I stopped eating meat about 8 months ago and rarely cheat. I’ve discovered Swenson’s Veggieboy is freaking delicious! My go-to place is Ardick Seafood in Lorain. The food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable. Their house chowder is delicious! In addition to my seafood staples Chinese food has become something I very much enjoy. At least 2 times a week I have fresh chow mein noodles from a little market in North Olmsted. It’s so easy to make them at home and super cheap! I get three meals for $4 and can add veggies from my farm share!
Oh also, I GET TO MEET LIL BUB ON 6/OCT!!! I purchased the full even ticket which means I get to pet Lil Bub, get a photo with her and her Dude, and a bunch of other cool stuff. It’s essentially a day with Bub, food and mimosas! Well worth the $134 price, and it’s in Rocky River which is only 20 minutes from home! I am ridiculously excited.
I splurged a few months back and purchased an Instax 300 Wide camera and an Instax Mini 9 camera. The Wide had quite the learning curve, especially considering the cost of film, but I think I’ve figured it out. The Mini 9 is more of a novelty and I don’t think I’ll use it very much once I run out of film (which is also expensive.) I do enjoy the look of the Wide photos, though, and will probably use it on a relatively regular basis. I finally bit the bullet and bought a Lensbaby Composer and some optics; soft focus optic, fisheye optic, plastic optic, single glass optic, pinhole/zone plate optic, and creative aperture set, all of which I love! I scored them on CL for a steal so I don’t feel too badly about spending the money. Besides, photography is something I enjoy so I shouldn’t feel badly no matter what I spend, right?
There’s a Gary Numan concert on the 24th @ HOB that I’ll attend, scored a ticket for $18 including all fees from Groupon!
That’s all for now.
